In June of this year, I began writing documentation for the No More Headaches transformational workshop. Drawing on both research and personal experiences, I have made postings almost every week. My intention is to post each week for six to eight months, creating a body of work that may help others eliminate migraines. I apologize to readers who were disappointed when I skipped a week.
As people responded to my writings and comments on other sites, I discovered resistance to my message. The main debate centers on whether migraines can be cured or not. There is a lot of information on the Internet stating that migraines are ‘an incurable genetic disease’. This statement awakens conflict for me, since my migraines are now gone. Also, though I experienced migraines for over twenty years, neither of my parents have headache issues.
Throughout the migraine phase of my life, I accepted that the pain would come regularly and I would just have to deal with it. I rarely left the house without a bottle of painkillers in my pocket. Then, after some personal changes the headaches went away. It took me a few years and a few more excruciating migraine sessions to discover what was really going on inside me.
Once my awareness changed, I recognized aspects of myself that contributed to headaches. Then through learning, intention and practice I became capable of preventing migraines without medication. For me, the cure for migraines came from within. I know that my way is not the only way; my hope in sharing experiences is that others can gain awareness and become empowered to reduce or eliminate headaches.
Firstly, it is important to emphasize that each person is unique. Your issues are yours alone, and only you can determine how to deal with them. The intention of this web site is to provide alternative viewpoints on how to eliminate migraines. The concepts presented here may awaken new understanding and healing, or could instead awaken doubts and internal conflict. It is important to recognize that either outcome is generated by you.
In an earlier posting, I spoke about The Headache Cycle , which goes through phases of Initiation, Buildup, Peak, Downturn and Recovery. It is during the Buildup phase where we can have the greatest influence over migraines or repetitive headaches. By changing the way that I react during Buildup, I managed to reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches.
After much practice, I have gained skills that have allowed me to eliminate migraines. Though sometimes I am required to apply these skills in order to diminish an impending headache, most months I experience no head pain at all. I understand that each person has unique challenges and may not achieve the same results, but even a little progress could make your life easier. Some of the skills that I have developed have been detailed in these postings:
One of the key elements in changing your migraine response involves changing perception. While everyone’s perception is unique, none are the only truth. There is always another way to look at something. My perceptions about migraines played a direct role in my ability to eliminate them. Some of my personal viewpoints are explained in these postings:
Over the next few weeks, there are still a number of topics that I wish to discuss. However, the material written to date clearly outlines what I have done to eliminate migraines from my life. Though some people contend that my concepts are incorrect, I am the one without migraines. If you read about my experiences with an open mind, perhaps it can make a difference in your life. It is possible to learn how to not have headaches.
